It will replace the Lidl at the nearby West Point Shopping Centre, which will permanently close on Wednesday, June 5.

With a sales area of 1,265 the new store will be 45% bigger, featuring Lidl’s popular bakery and large range of discount products.

During opening weekend, customers will be able to find exclusive deals on selected products, including a Singer Sewing Machine for £49.99, a Silvercrest 9-in-1 Air Fryer for £59.99.

There will be customer toilets with baby changing facilities, while outside, the Nottingham Road store is served by parking for both cars and bicycles, including two electric vehicle charging spaces.

All staff from the West Point Shopping Centre store will transfer to its new Nottingham Road location, with the new, bigger store also creating additional jobs.

Dominic Bryan, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: “Having served the community for nearly three decades, and as our customer base continues to grow, we can’t wait to give households access to their new, bigger and better Lidl store.”

Lidl now has more than 960 stores in England, Wales and Scotland, employing around 32,000 people.
