Nottingham’s Goose Fair has returned for another year running for 10 days in total, here is what I got up to on my visit

It is a Nottingham tradition to visit Goose Fair whether you have lived here all your life or are just seeing the city.

Located on Forest Recreation Ground the annual event is running for 10 days this year, until Sunday, October 8.

I have been coming to Goose Fair since I was little and love it every single year – the lights, the rides, the atmosphere and a whole variety of food stalls, you cannot go wrong.

This year was no different, I went at around 7pm on a Tuesday night and it was so busy!

First, I bought a chicken gyro for £10 – a flatbread pitta filled with shredded chicken, chips, salad and tzatziki sauce – which was delicious.

Next, I tried a hot pulled pork cob with stuffing and apple sauce. This was incredible and tasted like a roast dinner in a cob, and for £6.50 I was happy.

I personally hate rides; I am genuinely petrified. Dodgems, Fun House and the ghost train are as far as I will go but this time I went on the Twister ride; this ride spins you around while jolting back and forward getting faster as it goes on.

It was great fun although I am still not a fan of rides and definitely prefer watching people stumble off a ride rather than be on them myself!

Of course, you cannot go to Goose Fair without getting something sugary – there is always too much to choose from – candy floss, toffee apples, brandy snaps, churros or sweets.

I opted for four sugar doughnuts made fresh in front of you which came to £4, these are a classic and warmed me up as the weather started to drop as the night went on.

Overall, Goose Fair is somewhere you have to visit, and I envy anybody who can go on the rides fear-free!
