Developer Vistry Mercia donated £500 towards the cost of replacing the damaged books to restock the school’s library.

Claire Conner, a parent who has two children at the school and is an independent partner at publisher Usborne, said: “The school used the donation to purchase books from the children’s book publisher Usborne, including fiction, reading band books, French books, and maths books.

“Thanks to the donation, students will enjoy these books for years to come.”

Vistry Mercia is currently building new homes at its Edwalton Fields site in Edwalton.

Freya Halsall, marketing manager for Vistry Mercia, said: “When Claire got in touch with us after the library roof leaked, we were more than happy to help.

“Reading is central to the children’s education so we understood how important it was that the school could replace the books that were damaged.”
