Love Island: who is Ikenna Ekwonna? Series eight ITV dating show contestant from Nottingham

We are more than halfway through the ninth series of Love Island, which is set in a stunning South African villa.

The islanders were put through their tests at Casa Amor, and one bombshell, Ryan Weekly, is from Nottingham.

The 22-year-old steel erector tried his best, but didn’t get his time to shine in the main villa after failing to secure a connection.

Prior to Ryan’s entrance, there had only been one other contestant from Nottingham. So, let’s take a look at Ikenna Ekwonna from series eight.

Who is Ikenna Ekwonna?

Ikenna is a Pharmaceutical Salesman from Nottingham. He was 23-years-old when he appeared on the reality show in summer 2022.

Why did Ikenna Ekwonna go on ITV’s Love Island?

Ikenna, although unsuccessful, went into the Majorcan villa looking for love and a long term relationship.

The 23-year-old had only been in one relationship prior to his stint on the show, and said he felt he was “at the age” where he should find someone.

What was Ikenna Ekwonna’s journey like on Love Island?

Ikenna coupled up with Indiyah Polack on day one, based on a public vote. They remained together through two recouplings.

However, Indiyah began to express her feelings to Dami Hope - who was coupled up with Amber Beckford.

Ikenna was dumped on day 15 after receiving the fewest public votes.

He left alongside Amber, which led Indiyah and Dami to couple up. They later came third place in the show.

Ikenna and Dami have remained friends since leaving the villa, and often appear on each other’s Instagrams.
