A variety of the very best musicals and stage shows are coming to Nottingham’s very own Theatre Royal in 2023.

Take your children to enjoy Demon Dentist or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, have a night out with romantic classics such as Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) and The Bodyguard, or indulge in some history with Titanic and SIX.

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of)

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) is a unique and audacious retelling of Jane Austen’s most iconic love story - whereby men, money and microphones will be fought over.

It has come directly from the West End where it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

The show features pop classics including Young Hearts Run Free, Will You Love Me Tomorrow and You’re So Vain.

The Commitments

The Commitments is based on the BAFTA award-winning film of the same name, and tells the story of Jimmy Rabbitte, a young working-class music fan who dreams of starting a soul band in Dublin.

But as any live musician knows, getting a band together never quite goes to plan – especially after a few pints of Guinness.

The show features over 20 soul classics performed live including Night Train, Try A Little Tenderness, River Deep, Mountain High, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Mustang Sally, and I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Demon Dentist

Demon Dentist is based on the David Walliams book of the same name. In the tale, children are leaving their teeth for the tooth fairy and waking up to find odd things under their pillows.

The show follows Alfie and Gabz as they are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery – but no-one could have dreamed what they’ll discover when they come face to face with the demon dentist herself.

Dates: Thursday 20 April to Sunday 23 April (eight shows)

Titanic The Musical

Titanic The Musical is an emotional production focusing on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the real-life passengers who each boarded the ship in 1912 with stories and personal ambitions of their own.

The Third Class immigrants dream of a better life in America, the Second Class imagine they too can join the lifestyles of the rich and famous, whilst the millionaire Barons of the First Class anticipate legacies lasting forever.

The original Broadway production of Titanic The Musical won five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.

The Bodyguard

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker - and they don’t expect to fall in love.

The Bodyguard features classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Greatest Love Of All, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.

Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.

The show features songs including Bright New Day and Tell Me It’s Not True.

Heathers The Musical

Heathers The Musical is a dark comedy rock musical based on the 1988 film.

When Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers, her dreams of popularity may finally come true.

However, mysterious rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie follows 16-year-old Jamie New who lives on a council estate in Sheffield.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This is a musical version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a classic 1968 film about a flying car.

The show includes songs such as Truly Scrumptious, Hushabye Mountain, Toot Sweets and, of course, its Oscar-nominated title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

SIX The Musical

SIX The Musical hears the historic story of Henry VIII from his six wives point of view.

From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, they take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.
