This year’s National Fish and Chip Day coincides with the 80th anniversary of D-Day - the largest seaborne invasion in history.

In a Facebook post, the Cod’s Scallops said: “National Fish and Chip Day will recognise the huge importance of fish and chips during WW1 and WW2, and on D-Day in particular.

“In honour of this very special day we will be giving away 80 portions of fish and chips from our Mansfield Road restaurant.”

Those looking to get their hands on a free tray of fish and chips will need to queue outside the Mansfield Road click and collect window from 11.30am on June 6.

The freebies will be served on a first come, first served basis.
