The first instalment in our A-Z Guide is an Italian classic that is traditionally served ‘before pasta’

Here at Nottingham World, we’re BIG on food and drink. You only need to glance at our homepage to see how much we love to eat (and drink).

But more than that, we also love to shine a spotlight on the city’s amazing eateries - from restaurants and pubs to bakeries and takeaways.

To celebrate Nottingham’s eclectic and thriving food scene, we’ve decided to create an A-Z Guide highlighting some of our favourite places and plates.

We’ll be bringing them to you in instalments, starting (unsurprisingly) with A.

So without further ado...

A is for Antipasti at Casa Italian

If it’s big plates of pasta, zesty drinks and fresh mozzarella you’re after, look no further than Nottingham.

Hearty Italian restaurants may be two a penny in and around Nottingham but there’s something we love about Casa Italian in Upper Parliament Street.

For starters (see what we did there), it’s got an absolutely magnifico Antipasti menu with dishes ranging from soup to Caprese salad.

For those who aren’t au fait with the term Antipasti refers to a selection of small dishes served before the main meal. (The Italians really do it best, don’t they?)

The word "antipasti" itself translates to "before the meal" or "before the pasta."

Antipasti can vary widely in terms of ingredients and presentation, but they typically include a variety of cured meats, cheeses, marinated vegetables, olives, bread, and other small bites. Our top choices of Antipasti from Casa Italian include saucy meatballs, creamy mushrooms served in a filo pastry basket, and mussels in a white wine sauce with crusty bread.

We know it’s meant to be the scene setter, but we think this Antipasti selection is so good that you could make it the main event.

Of course, the main menu is incredible too and if you love authentic Italian cuisine then you definitely won’t go hungry.

Enjoy delicious Antipasti at Casa Italian & Seafood Restaurant. Check out the menu here.

Up next is B and we’re thinking buttermilk chicken burger?
