Victorian building brought back into use with a grand opening planned for November 10

The refurbishment of a historic Nottingham building into a “high-end” sports bar across two floors is nearing completion.

Arc Inspirations is preparing for a grand opening of their latest BOX site in the Grade II-listed building previously occupied by fashion retailer AllSaints at 2-3 Thurland Street, opposite Roxy Ball Room and MOJO.

When complete, the building’s interior will be fitted out with features including a 17-metre long bar, 35 flat-screen TVs, a two-metre wide mirror ball, two 18-foot shuffleboard tables and three electric dart boards.

BOX will also offer its signature stein cocktails, including the Pornstar Steintini and Largeritas.

Arc Inspirations was granted planning permission by Nottingham City Council in March and started construction work earlier this summer.

Originally built in 1879, the building formed the base of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Bank and was later converted into two separate retail units in 2004.

Now that plans to transform the historic building are nearing completion, the company has announced a grand opening party on November 10.

Martin Wolstencroft, Arc Inspirations’ chief executive, said: “We have been looking forward to opening our first-ever venue in the East Midlands and we’re absolutely thrilled to be launching BOX in Nottingham city centre.

“Nottingham is home to some of the best sports fans in the country, so we’re confident that a premium sports bar like BOX will fit right in and quickly become a popular addition to the incredible nightlife and bar scene here.”

BOX will also serve beers sourced from Nottingham-based brewery Castle Rock, to feature amongst the 43 available bar taps.

The new venue will create 75 jobs and feature a live band every Friday and Saturday night, with band-oke on a Thursday, where revellers can sing alongside professional musicians.

Also on offer are two private party rooms to rent on the second floor, named ‘The Bow’ and ‘The Arrow’, referring to Nottingham’s fabled outlaw.

Kirsty Clarke, Arc Inspirations’ operation manager, added: “We certainly aren’t holding back either as it’s our largest venue to date, with the biggest screen of any of our bars.”

Arc Inspirations had previously planned to convert the former Midland Bank on Victoria Street into its Manahatta cocktail bar chain, but this was withdrawn in 2022 - and it will now become a branch of pizzeria Rudy’s.
